Melania Trump, a designer and former model, told People magazine in an interview published Wednesday that it’s not easy giving advice to her husband and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The magazine examined what life was like at home for the Trumps.

The Donald has been widely criticized for his comments on illegal immigrants, calling Mexican immigrants drug dealers and rapists. He has also called actress Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig,” remarked about GOP rival Carly Fiorina’s face, and publicly critiqued Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

Melania told the publication, considering her husband’s colorful comments, that she was “not ready to get political yet.”

“He is who he is,” she was quoted by the magazine. “Even if you give him advice, he will maybe take it in, but then he will do it the way he wants to do it. You cannot change a person. Let them be. Let them be the way they are.”
