Fox News’ Megyn Kelly took a surrogate for Donald Trump to task Tuesday night for trying to defend the presumptive nominee’s attacking the judge an ongoing lawsuit against him for being “Mexican.”
When Trump backer David Wohl insisted Trump was exercising free speech and his remarks about federal judge Gonzalo Curiel were a “non-sequitur,” Kelly wasn’t buying it.
“This is all it is, he’s got the First Amendment right,” Wohl said.
“Really? Really?” Kelly asked in disbelief. “Listen, you can say that there’s no merits to the case and Trump will get his day in court. But to after the judge as a ‘Mexican’ and ‘hater’ takes it to a different level.”
Wohl later said after attacking Curiel, Trump said, “‘I love the Mexican people, I’ve got millions of Mexican supporters.’ He clarified it immediately. Don’t take it out of context.”
Kelly was undeterred.
“David, come on,” Kelly said. “I mentioned it because I want to take this opportunity to express my love for the Mexicans. Come on!”
“Sometimes you have a slip of the tongue –” Wohl tried.
“He does it repeatedly! That’s the thing that’s so crazy about it!” Kelly shouted. “What we’re debating here is his taking it a step further, personalizing it, going after the guy’s ethnicity and he does it every time!”
Watch the exchange, captured by TPM:
The more balanced she tries to make herself appear, the more rancid she becomes. Megyn Kelly is a toxic waste dump. I’d call her a media whore, but I’ve known whores, and they deserve a helluva lot more respect than Megyn Kelly does.
Kelly doesn’t worry about upsetting The Donald with these types of exchanges. She has an agreement with Trump every few weeks she’ll rehabilitate his image with a nationally broadcast fawning gabfest about his love for Melania and his fabulous charitable work.
Maybe Megyn can address the barrage of vicious anti-Semitic attacks on both Jewish and non-Jewish reporters who cover negative aspects of Trump’s campaign.

This cable news formula of having one guest who supports Trump’s insane positions and one who opposes them is bad for the country.
Last night I watched Don Lemon put a Trump supporting former Navy SEAL against a conscientious objecting, Bernie supporting, Iraq war veteran. The Trump supporter, I shit you not, said on live television, which I assume is broadcast internationally, said he would execute Muslim families.
This is the opposite of responsible journalism.
The big November question:
Can the Republican Party — the party of uncompromising principles — win by taking both sides of every issue?
