Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) expressed his disappointment at the announcement that White House counsel Don McGahn will leave this fall, calling the departure a “big loss” for the administration.

McGahn has been an instrumental figure in McConnell’s quiet work getting dozens of conservative judges appointed to the federal bench, and McConnell’s persuasion reportedly dissuaded him from leaving the Trump administration earlier.
