Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill raised $2.6 million in the second quarter of 2012, her campaign announced Thursday. The campaign has $3.6 million cash on hand and has already spent $3 million to reserve air time this fall, reports the Springfield News-Leader.
Two-thirds of the individual donors this quarter were first-time donors, the campaign reports. Almost a third of the donations were $25 or less and 87 percent gave $200 or less.
Though Republicans have yet to select their nominee, McCaskill will face a tough challenge in an increasingly red state.
