New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. John McCain traveled to Ohio Monday to endorse state Treasurer Josh Mandel in his Senate bid to unseat Sen. Sherrod Brown. McCain’s endorsement came Monday morning at an event in Columbus.
McCain cited Mandel’s tours of duty as a Marine in Iraq and his time in the Ohio state House as important experience that makes up for his relative youth. This is is the first foray for McCain — a top Romney surrogate — into 2012 Senate races. Christie will endorse Mandel outside Cleveland Monday afternoon.
