New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is launching a consulting firm aimed at helping bring policies and ideas developed during his 12 years in office to cities throughout the world after his final term ends later this month, according to the New York Times.
The group, which will be called Bloomberg Associates, will have a staff of about 20 to 25 people, including many veterans of Bloomberg’s mayoral administration. The newspaper reported it will be led by George Fertitta, who ran the city’s tourism agency.
Cities who receive consulting services from Bloomberg Associates will not be charged and funding will come from Bloomberg’s vast personal fortune. Fertitta told the Times the group will work with “four to six cities a year.”
“There will be people … who will be lined up at the door,” said Fertitta.
