Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) primary challenger is making it known that journalists barred from McConnell campaign events are welcome at his campaign events.

Kentucky Republican Matt Bevin is dinging McConnell for excluding liberal-leaning LEO Weekly news editor Joe Sonka from a campaign event. Bevin’s campaign said in a statement Wednesday that he would be holding a press conference on Thursday and that the “media availability is open to the press. Yes, even to Joe Sonka.”

“Mitch McConnell is dodging debates, he’s dodging the people of Kentucky, and he’s dodging journalists. Kentuckians deserve to know…where’s Mitch?” Bevin spokesman spokeswoman Rachel Semmel said in a statement.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville also published a new editorial criticizing McConnell’s staff from keeping Sonka out of the press event.
