Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) has been working “very hard” to secure the 60 votes need to get Keystone XL pipeline legislation passed in the Senate, according to Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).

“She was working very very hard. She was working very hard. She’s working very hard to get 60 votes so we’ll see what happens,” Stabenow told reporters on Tuesday as she was leaving a Senate Democratic luncheon a few hours ahead of the vote on Keystone, which she has pledged to vote against the bill. “She’s a huge friend and we admire her for what she believes in.”

It’s unclear if Landrieu, who’s facing an uphill battle in the runoff for U.S. Senate against Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), will be able to rally the final senator she needs for the 60 votes needed to overcome a Senate filibuster of the bill. It appeared on Tuesday that 59 senators, including all Senate Republicans, backed Senate approval of the Keystone pipeline bill.
