Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO), who is locked in a tight re-election race, appeals directly to Hispanic women in a new Spanish-language TV ad shared exclusively with TPM.

The ad is the second spot in a $500,000 TV ad buy by Udall’s campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Spanish-language channels that will run through Election Day.

“They’ll always protect a woman’s right to make her own decisions about starting a family,” the ad’s narrator says. “Because for Mark Udall and the Democrats, it’s about freedom and opportunity.”

The ad boasts of Udall’s work on increasing the minimum wage, college affordability, and equal pay. Many of the ads so far from Udall’s campaign and groups supporting him have focused on attacking his Republican opponent, Rep. Cory Gardner, for what they call his extremism on issues like abortion and climate change.

But the new Spanish-language ad doesn’t mention Gardner.

“Mark Udall and the Democrats,” the narrator concludes. “Freedom and opportunity for women and families.”

According to TPM’s PollTracker average, Udall trails Gardner by 5 points, 45 percent to 40 percent.
