The tea party group that one of the newly arrested men believed to be connected to the photographing of Sen. Thad Cochran’s (R-MS) wife is telling its members not to talk to the media or post anything online.
The group, the Central Mississippi Tea Party, sent out an email to supporters on Thursday after news broke that one of its board of directors, attorney Mark Mayfield (pictured above), had been arrested in connection with political blogger “Constitutional Clayton” Kelly photographing Cochran’s wife at the nursing home where she has been bedridden to use her image in an anti-Cochran video.
Here’s the text of the email, below, obtained by TPM:
According to local news reports Mark Mayfield has been arrested in Madison County and charged with conspiracy. Authorities are apparently relating this to the Clayton Kelly case. When more details are known, the Central MS Tea Party will release a statement to the press.
In the meantime, as loyal Patriots you should:
• Refrain from discussing this case with others, do not post comments on social media, and make absolutely no statements to the news media.
• If you are contacted by the news media, refer them to our CMTP President Janis Lane who is handling all media inquiries.
• Pray, pray, pray for Mark, for his sweet wife Robin and for their family. Those who know Mark personally know that he is a very tender-hearted man and one who avoids controversy. He has served our Board and our Patriots faithfully and with distinction for many years. He deserves our prayerful support.
First rule of Fight Club…
As “loyal” “patriots”, you should shut up and let your boy swing in the breeze.
Now there’s some loyal patriotism…
OT, but who wants to bet “Constitutional Clayton” only knows about the 2nd ammendment?
And the 10th.
I find the rhetoric of this memo unsettling and cultish. “As loyal Patriots you should. . . pray, pray, pray.”
How does one pop an ideology bubble?
