Mark Halperin Thinks John Kerry WIll Run In 2016 If Hillary Clinton Doesn’t (VIDEO)

With the Elizabeth Warren boomlet having already come and gone, America’s most famous pundit dropped the name of another Massachusetts politician on Monday as a potential 2016 contender.

“Let me just say quickly, if Hillary Clinton doesn’t run for president I bet you John Kerry does,” Mark Halperin declared on MSNBC.

The comment was at first met with silence, followed by awkward laughter from the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza — reactions that underscore how there’s been virtually no chatter about another White House bid for the Massachusetts senator and current secretary of state.

“That’s a first,” host Andrea Mitchell said in response.

Tom Jensen, the director of Democratic pollster PPP, told TPM on Monday that Kerry hasn’t been tested in any of the firm’s 2016 polls.

So perhaps Halperin is on to something, as Matt Lewis suspects. Then again, maybe he’s not.
