Officials from Texas and Colorado held a press conference Friday to offer more details about the suspect in a high speed chase and shoot-out with law enforcement that occurred Thursday in north Texas.

David Walker, the sheriff of Wise County in Texas, confirmed that Evan Spencer Ebel was the “confirmed suspect” in the case, and that Ebel had died in the aftermath of a shoot-out with sheriff’s deputies.

But officials stopped short of saying that Ebel is a suspect in the murder of Colorado Department of Corrections chief Tom Clements, who was shot and killed Tuesday evening while answering the front door of his home in Monument, Colo. Media reports have indicated that Ebel is a suspect in Clements’ murder, and have identified him as a member of a white supremacist prison gang called the 211 Crew.

Earlier Friday, the Denver Police Department’s official Twitter account said that the suspect in the Texas shoot-out was a suspect in the killing of a pizza deliveryman in Colorado on Sunday.
