Police on Wednesday took into custody a man who reportedly had a meat cleaver in his car outside the federal courthouse where the Boston Marathon bomber was being sentenced to death, according to local news outlets.

Local TV station WBZ reported that the court was in recess for lunch when police officers searched the man’s Honda CRV, where they found the meat cleaver.

No further details were immediately available.

Later Wednesday afternoon, a judge formally sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death for the 2013 attack on the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 260 others, as well as for the killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer.

Tsarnaev addressed the court and apologized to the victims and survivors of the bombing, according to the Associated Press.
