The five candidates in the Massachusetts special Senate election have suspended campaign activity Monday after explosions at the Boston Marathon, Politico reported.

Those include Democratic candidates Reps. Ed Markey and Stephen Lynch and Republicans Gabriel Gomez and state Rep. Dan Winslow. Gomez, a businessman and former Navy SEAL, ran the marathon Monday, finishing shortly before the explosions. Republican candidate Michael Sullivan, a former U.S. Attorney, canceled his events for the rest of the day.

The primary is on April 30.
