Wyoming U.S. Senate candidate Liz Cheney (R) said Tuesday that she’d vote against the resolution to authorize force in Syria, the Jackson Hole News & Guide reported.

Speaking at a tea party gathering in Jackson Hole, Wyo., the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney blasted President Barack Obama for taking “an amateurish approach to national security and foreign policy” and said the administration should have supported the rebels in Syria two years ago.

And although the likes of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) have broken from the hawkish factions in Congress on the issue, Cheney rejected the notion that the debate over the Syria resolution is pitting Republicans against each other.

“The press will try to portray this Syria debate as a battle between wings of the Republican Party,” Cheney said. “Don’t believe them.”

Cheney announced in July that she will challenge Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) in a GOP primary next year, but polls have shown the incumbent with big early leads in the race.
