During a press dinner on Thursday night, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) let loose on the Republican party and the GOP presidential candidate, telling his party that it’s going to have to “up its game.”

Graham’s comments came during a dinner held by the Washington Press Club Foundation Dinner where lawmaker guests typically crack jokes about their own party, as well as lawmakers across the aisle.

During his speech, Graham lamented that Hillary Clinton is about to become president, blaming it on Republicans.

“How could that be? My party has gone batshit crazy,” he explained.

He then joked about how much Senate Republicans dislike Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

“If you kill Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you,” he joked.

When it came time for Graham to joke and hurl insults at Donald Trump, the senator instead made some sobering remarks.

“I don’t know how I can best describe Donald Trump, but I can say this, that I don’t think he understands what makes America great. And I know I’m supposed to be funny, but I’m not really happy about where the country is right now,” Graham said. “I could make a million Donald Trump jokes, and I have. But our party and our country is going to have to up its game.”

Republicans for Trump think they are upping the GOP’s game.

  2. Lindsey, you helped create this Republican party. You had no trouble with the “Southern Strategy” of Nixon / Reagan. You sought out the racists and xenophobes. Your BFF, John McCain, helped the process along when he unleashed Wasilla Kardashian and Joe the I Wanna Be A Plumber onto the stage. Now is too late to come to your senses.

  3. “And I know I’m supposed to be funny,”

And you are funny, Senator Graham! Just not intentionally…

  4. The Republicans have no one to blame for Trump but themselves .
They created him via the Oligarch-backed “Tea Party” insurgency. Trump is the inevitable result of appealing to the base instincts of the Xenophobes, Evangelicals, Racists, New Confederacy secessionists, and low information Rubes that now make up the MAJORITY of their party.
YOU MADE THIS Republicans. Deal with it.
Take one for the team and go for a “brokered convention” which of course will descend into outright chaos that will make the 1968 Democratic convention look tame by comparison. Trump will bolt and run as an Independent, the Cruz supporters will go nuts and the empty-suit Rubio will be seen for the incompetent know-nothing he really is.
At least it will be a wonderful spectacle to see.

  5. Demasiado tarde, amigo.

    Ustedes ya perdieron control.

Al principio, empezaron una estrategia de racismo…y, despues

    MAS RACISMO
