Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is expected to lead the charge to secure a running mate for the presumptive GOP nominee, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The Post, citing two Republicans who spoke on condition of anonymity, reported that Lewandowski formally took on the role last week and has been the “point person” for for the team vetting potential vice presidential candidates.

Trump has said a slew of people, notably failed presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, would help him select a vice president while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) would lead Trump’s transition team.

Lewandowski made headlines when he was charged with misdemeanor battery after a former reporter for the conservative news site Breitbart filed a complaint against him with Florida police. The reporter alleged Lewandowski forcibly grabbed her arm after a news conference. Lewandowski denied any wrongdoing and was repeatedly defended by Trump; local prosecutors ultimately declined to advance the case.
