Host of “The Nightly Show” Larry Wilmore got some nervous laughter from his audience after he declared himself jealous of the success of the gay marriage movement.

“Man, I am really happy for you gay people, but I gotta say it’s a little fast!” he said. “I’m not hating, but maybe just a little jealous.”

Wilmore explained his reasoning.

“Because black people spent hundreds of years fighting for every single civil right,” he pointed out.

“I mean, for example, we’ve only just gotten to the whole ‘please don’t shoot us’ thing,” he said, flashing images of “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” protests that followed the police killings of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice.

Wilmore pointed out that for 36 states to have made the jump only eleven years after Massachusetts legalized gay marriage in 2004, the cause is “pretty much done.” He crossed the issue off his list of “Stuff To Worry About.”
