“The Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore has been incredibly forthright in his dislike of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
On Wednesday night’s show, Wilmore did not hold back: “Look, Trump is stupid,” he said. “Plain and simple.”
“Contempt for higher learning and critical thinking — or as they call it, elitism — was always a strategy for smart guys to get into office. But now those smart guys are getting buried by their own creation of dumb,” Wilmore said. “That’s why Jeb is so frustrated. Why do you think he has an exclamation point at the end of his name?”
Between Trump’s comments on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, oil in the Mideast and his endorsement of Operation Wetback, Wilmore is done.
“This isn’t funny anymore. It’s just stupid,” he said.

I think Wilmore’s overall point has some validity. I do think it’s s stretch, however, to call Bush one of the “smart guys.” He’s less stupid and offensive than some of the others, but that’s quite a different thing.
Thanks brah, the world know you right.
Jesus Christ has Wilmore put his finger on it with this one. When Trump cited the campaign slogan “I Like Ike” as evidence that people, you know, liked Ike, I literally put my hand over my eyes in dismayed disbelief. He is stupid. He says stupid things all the time. He’s bright-normal in raw intelligence, and he knows a bit about getting attention and impressing easily impressed people by puffing out his chest like a gorilla, but as far as general knowledge and critical thinking ability he’s stupid. The only reason people don’t yell at him “SHUT UP YOU STUPID LUMMOX” whenever he opens his mouth is because he has always had money. You can talk about why he’s a frontrunner—you can talk about populism and Know-Nothings and economic insecurity among the non-college-educated working class—but at the end of the day he’s stupid. That’s why the stupidest fifth of the country says “There’s something about that stupid man I like.”
Everyone knows that.
Trump was too stupid and arrogant to actually do due diligence on this program. I think that he actually did not know about the details of the program but went with it because it was done by a supposedly popular President. He was also too stupid or arrogant to realize that the press would research this program and immediately come down on him if there were problems with the program. Really Republicans. This is the kind of man you want as your President?
