A video showing several Los Angeles Police Department officers fatally shooting a man on skid row appeared to have been removed from Facebook on Monday.
The original link posted in TPM’s article about the incident was broken and in place of the video was a message explaining the dead link:
This Facebook post is no longer available. It may have been removed or the privacy settings of the post may have changed.
It’s unclear who removed the video or why it was taken down.
Here is a screenshot of the caption, where the video was before it was removed:
“This Facebook post is no longer available. It may have been removed or the privacy settings of the post may have changed.”
This Facebook post is no longer available. It was removed or the privacy settings of the post were changed after the poster received anonymous death threats from off-duty LAPD officers using untraceable lines.
FIFY
Was also looking for a little more info, since TPM seems to be a bit more focused on the video’s existence as the story rather than the story as the story. First thing I came across was this on Yahoo News:
“homeless individual known by his street name, Africa”
I stopped bothering at that point since the whole thing went all Onion almost instantly upon finding the first new tidbit of info. Fuck you, reality, fuck you.
Please. Nothing on the internet is truly gone. Just ask the victims of revenge porn. The video should pop up shortly and somebody will be kind enough to link.
Still available on Los Angeles Times website (they’ve even enhanced the video
(Just because something isn’t on social media doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.)
The video is still available on the Beeb, along with more information.
So messed up. What happened to beating people with clubs? Still fucked up, but not necessarily lethal.
OK, he went for your gun. Well, he can’t go for your gun if he has to go for your nightstick because that’s what you brought to the party.
So messed up.
