Independent senate candidate Angus King has a huge lead in Maine, topping 50 percent in a three-way race, according to a new poll from the Portland Press-Hearld, the state’s largest newspaper.

King gets 50.3 percent, Republican candidate Secretary of State Charlie Summers sees 23.8 percent and Democratic nominee state Senator Cynthia Dill is at 13.8 percent. Spending from outside groups has ticked up in the race over the last month, but King’s lead remains — the PollTracker Average of the race closely mirrors the new Press-Herald poll.
