Kim Davis: I Can’t Resign Because I’ll ‘Lose My Voice’ (VIDEO)

Kentucky clerk Kim Davis on Wednesday night explained to Fox News’ Megyn Kelly why she has still refused to resign despite numerous failed attempts to receive an accommodation for her religious beliefs.

“If I resign I lose my voice,” Davis said. “Why should I have to quit a job that I love, that I’m good at? I’ve been a county employee and served the public well for over 26 years before I got elected. It just comes back to, they can accommodate for all sorts of other issues, and we ask for one simple accommodation, and we cannot receive it.”

She has repeatedly refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, and lost her latest appeal to a federal judge this week.

Davis also told Kelly that she would not issue a marriage license to her own children if they were gay.

“I would love them because I love all people, but I would not write them a marriage license,” she said.

  1. No, Kim, you refuse to resign because you’ll lose your cushy government benefits that you most likely would not get in another job.

  2. NOW I get it… she’ll have to give up her 15 minutes of ‘fame’…

  3. Yes, getting a real Thomas More vibe off this one.

The essence of this woman’s job as a public servant is to issue licenses in accordance with the laws of this land, not in accordance with what she thinks the laws should be. Her “accommodation” is a salary and benefits for doing her job properly. Also the satisfaction of serving the law-abiding citizens of her state. If she doesn’t want to do her job, she can receive other accommodations, in the federal lockup.

  5. Wow, talk about getting bad advice from her Liberty U attorneys! Letting her go on the show to express contempt for the court order is beyond stupid. I’ll venture they approved her appearance and even egged her on to do so. Amazed the attorneys would do so as they risk a court sanction and potential loss of the ability to practice law in her state!

Foolish, indeed…unless she really does want martyrdom via another jail sentence.
