Senate Conservatives Fund President Ken Cuccinelli (R), the former Virginia attorney general who lost to now Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), thinks that tea party aligned Senate candidate Rob Maness (R) “clearly” has a shot at winning in the Louisiana race for U.S. Senate.

So SCF, per Cuccinelli (pictured) in an interview with USA Today, said the deep pocketed Senate Conservatives Fund plans to aide Maness through radio and TV ads ahead of the Nov. 4 election.

“Clearly, this is winnable, or we wouldn’t be pushing our members as hard to be as supportive of Col. Maness,” Cuccinelli said.

Maness, who is endorsed by SCF, has lagged in polling of the jungle primary of the Louisiana Senate race. Louisiana election rules for a “jungle primary” are set that if no candidate is able to get 50 percent, there’s a runoff between the top-two vote getters.

Currently, the TPM Polltracker gives Landrieu a 6.3 lead in the Senate race over Rep. Bill Cassidy (R) and Maness. Critics argue Maness’ presence is just making it more difficult for Cassidy to win.
