Something rather odd showed up on the official Twitter account of Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) this weekend, but a spokesperson for the congressman said Monday it was the result of a mistake by a staffer.

In June, Twitter user @michaeljhudson tweeted the following:

On Sunday, it was retweeted from Ellison’s account before being quickly deleted. According to the website Politwoops, the retweet lasted all of 25 seconds on the Minnesota Democrat’s feed — more than enough time to draw mockery from Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy website.

Isaiah Kirshner-Breen, press and communications assistant for Ellison, told TPM on Monday that the lawmaker’s fingerprints weren’t on the retweet.

“It was an aide and it was a mistake. The congressman had nothing to do with it,” he said by phone.

  1. Is it because they used the word “bitch” in the same manner that the younger peeps use these days? Like, “Whattup, bitch!” It seems like much ado about nothing if you ask me.

  2. its kind of funny!

  3. One ought not to make such a mistake when dealing with a twitter account of a public figure such as a congressman.

The individual ought to be banned from maintaining the congressman’s twitter account as he/she does not know what’s appropriate and what’s not.

  4. Notwithstanding the admission of a mistake –

    FAKE.

The tweeter did not post a pic of him doing that volcano thing with onion rings, or the egg roll gag with the fried rice, or flipping shrimp shells into his hat.

    FAKE FAKE FAKE.

I think we are entering an era of Meta faux-outrage. Is anyone even pretending to understand or explain what the issue is here? I saw the pic, and I’m sorry, but, well ACTUALLY, I’M NOT, but I thought it was funny.
Am I being a chauvinist towards stoves? WTF, people?
