Bring on Donald Trump, and Ben Carson, too. That's what Democratic insiders are saying about the Republican outsiders who sit solidly atop preference polls in the race for the GOP nomination for president. They are far more worried about GOP candidates who have experience in office, with Marco Rubio cited most often, and Kasich the second, as the strongest potential competition for their overwhelming choice for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Wednesday appeared to make explicit what his Republican presidential rival Ben Carson hadn’t yet: that the soft spoken, retired neurosurgeon was suspending his bid for the White House.

“I just had a very, very nice conversation with Dr. Ben Carson who announced today that he’s suspending his campaign,” Kasich told the crowd at his campaign rally in Grand Blanc, Michigan. “And I think he held his head high and he’s a very, very good man.”

Carson put out a bizarre statement earlier in the day that said that he would skip the Fox News debate scheduled for Thursday. He also said he saw “no path forward” for his campaign.

Carson said he planned to give more context to that statement when he speaks Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

This puts Kasich in the same conniving category as Cruz, no? (although it isn’t the day before a primary)

  2. Another difference is Carson dropping out hardly helps Kasich. He just wanted to excite his audience somehow? Odd…

He probably wanted to let the audience know that he’s “in the loop” or “in the know” - amazing how desperate these pols are to stay relevant. Maybe he should stand behind Mitt (a la Christie) when Mitt makes his statement.

  4. Or maybe Carson said he was “dropping acid,” which would explain a lot.

  5. He also said he saw “no path forward” for his campaign.

To be fair he literally sees no path forward since he is still stuck backstage that debate in New Hampshire waiting for someone to lead him along the correct path.
