Republican presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich laughed off on Sunday opponent Donald Trump’s call for him to change the spelling of his name.
Trump said Saturday that he didn’t know how to pronounce Kasich’s name and called the spelling of it “ridiculous.” Kasich was asked to respond to Trump in an appearance on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”
Kasich told CBS News host John Dickerson that he found it “amusing.”
“You know I used to say if they spell your name right that’s good. No, I kind of chuckle,” Kasich said. “It makes me laugh. So, God bless him. And God bless you and our listeners.”
The correct spelling is A-L-S-O R-A-N.
As I understand it, in flyover country that’s an offhandedly contemptuous way to say someone’s pathetically dumb. So bravo, Governor.
I was hoping that Kasich would go off on Trump, because now Todd, Brooks, Cokie, Stephanopolous, Will, and all the other stenographers will indulge in a nauseating orgy of proclaiming Kasich to be a really reasonable, moderate kind of guy who’s much more honest and authentic than Clinton.
I’m just surprised Trump didn’t take it to the next level. You know, "I can’t pronounce Kasich so I’ll just call him by the English translation…that would be loser. John Loser.
The Governor is a real bore, trying to come across as reasonable,IMO.
