CNN and ABC News are reporting Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is the winner of the Kansas Democratic caucuses Saturday evening.

With 90 percent of districts reporting, the state Democratic party called the race for Sanders. The party said in a statement that around 40,000 turned out to caucus, more than in 2008.

Kansas is Sanders’ third win in a caucus state over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

  1. The networks are calling it, but I haven’t seen any returns at all yet. So is this call based on exit polls? If so, it must be a good-sized margin to call it before any returns are even in.

Edit: I am seeing elsewhere that the state Democratic Party had announced the winner. Still seems weird that we aren’t seeing any actual numbers yet.

  2. Something tells me TPM was predicting this to go the other way.

  3. I do wish the MSM would pay more attention to delegate counts than to who “won” each state.

  4. Where? I never saw any such prediction.
