The Obama administration’s decision to delay taking executive action on immigration until after the November midterms did not sit well with Fusion’s Jorge Ramos.
Shortly after news of the delay broke on Saturday, the popular Spanish-language news anchor and immigration reform advocate responded forcefully on Twitter, calling out President Obama for breaking a pledge to take action before the end of the summer.
President @BarackObama once again delays action on immigration. He promised on June 30th to act before the end of the summer. Now he won’t.

This presidential delay means that more innocent people will be deported and more families separated. It’s the triumph of partisan politics.

It’s not the first time Ramos held Obama’s feet to the fire on the issue. In an interview during the 2012 campaign, the anchor repeatedly questioned Obama on the lack of progress made on on immigration reform.
At a press conference earlier this year, Ramos took House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to task for “blocking immigration reform.”
Oh pleeze! By delaying this for 8 weeks or so, the administration can institute a more progressive policy (after mid-terms) and perhaps save the Senate majority. This seems to be a no brainer to me…
I understand his frustration, but I wonder if he understands just how disastrous a Republican Senate would be, not just for Hispanics, but for everyone.
I’s all about them. Freak the rest of us. You are right. A GOP Senate is worse than immigration. Would terribly hurt the citizens here who have no other country
The next step in the Lobster Quadrille of practical politics: keeping the advocate outrage pressure on, so the politico’s inaction appears sympathetic to opponents.
If Republicans win The Senate Hispanics would be screwed ten times worse. You can bet on that.
