Comedian Jon Stewart ripped Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday’s “The Daily Show” for his criticism of recently freed Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s father.

On Tuesday’s “Fox & Friends,” Kilmeade referenced reports that Bergdahl, who spent nearly five years in captivity in Afghanistan, may have been a deserter. Then he suggested the soldier’s father, Bob, was anti-American and mocked his beard.

“I mean, he says he was growing his beard because his son was in captivity. Well, your son’s out now,” Kilmeade said. “So if you really don’t — no longer look like a member of the Taliban, you don’t have to look like a member of the Taliban. Are you out of razors?”

Stewart found that criticism inconsistent with Fox News’ general embrace of the long-bearded “Duck Dynasty” clan.

“Well, that got ugly fast. First of all, who the f*ck are you to judge what a guy does if he thinks it might help him get his son back?” Stewart said. “And I don’t want to complicate your hatred of facial hair there, friend, but my guess is if you gave Bob Berg-dahl a bandana and a duck, you’d like him just f*cking fine.”

Stewart also hit Fox’s Sean Hannity for taking some liberties with the pronunciation of Bergdahl’s last name.

“Oh, Berg-DAHL?! Is that how we’re pronouncing it now?” Stewart asked. “I guess the purposeful mispronunciation of a soldier’s last name to make it sound Arabic is not purposeful. I mean, Sean Hannity’s not an ass-HOLE, right? Why would he do that?”
