After the temporary expiration of the NSA’s bulk data collection program, Jon Stewart on Monday couldn’t help but notice a lot of people on Capitol Hill were very angry with a certain Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).
Through procedural manuevering, Paul managed to block key provisions of the Patriot Act from being renewed through the USA Freedom Act.
Colleagues such as Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) were frank in condemning Paul’s move as dangerous and unstatesmanlike.
“I’ve run for president twice, but I never would have stooped to something like this,” McCain said.
Stewart pounced.
“You’d only stoop to something like — this,” Stewart said, flashing a photo of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Stewart was amazed that after seven years, John McCain still sets himself up for Palin jokes.
