President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a joint statement Tuesday agreeing to establish new relations between the two countries and work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
Read the full statement below:
I won’t pretend to know how this works, but this appears to be more a press release from the White House than a joint statement. No signatures, and the author knows who will represent the US in negotiations, but no idea who is representing North Korea.
Looks like a simple Nobel positioning statement to me. Nothing in there that wasn’t said in the last week.
Do they actually commit to anything? Besides meeting again?
What did the US get from NK in return for the meeting with the US President that NK has craved for decades? I can’t find any actual actions specified in this statement.
By “denuclearization” I think Lil’ Kim means Yankee go home.
I don’t care to be cynical, but I’lol believe it when I see it.
If Trump can renege on a ‘deal’, so can anyone.
