Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) told CNN’s “New Day” that his campaign doesn’t “expect to win” in South Carolina in an interview aired early Thursday morning.

CNN’s Jamie Gangel asked Kasich about Republican presidential rival Jeb Bush’s campaign arguing that Kasich “has nothing in South Carolina.”

“We’re going to compete here. We don’t expect to win here,” Kasich replied. “But on the other hand, if you take a look at the person that says that, they spent like well over $100 million—something along that—and they got like nothing.”

“This is not the end of it for us here in South Carolina. We will be moving through South Carolina to other places,” he added.

Kasich took second place in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary, while Bush finished in fourth place.

The Ohio governor said he wasn’t feeling any pressure on his campaign.

“Pressure is a mom that’s got three kids and the husband walked out the door,” Kasich said. “Pressure is not what I’m doing. As long as I do what I think I need to do, whatever the outcome is, I’ll be fine with.”

TPM’s PollTracker Average puts Kasich in seventh place in South Carolina with 1.9 percent support. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has since suspended his campaign, has more support (2 percent) in the Palmetto State.
