Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Sunday that he would sign a bill in his state that would ban abortions if the reason for the procedure was because of a Down syndrome diagnosis.
Kasich told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” Sunday that he was “more than glad” to say he would approve the bill.
The bill in Ohio’s statehouse is scheduled to be voted on in October, according to CNN.
“I would sign it, yes,” Kasich told Tapper. “Look, I’m a governor. I’m a CEO. I have to have my hand steady on the wheel. But in this case, I’m more than glad to say that of course I would sign that.”

Just wondering: Do Republicans give a damn about any babies after they’re born?
And if the parents don’t have the money and resources to take care of such a child, then what? I have NO DOUBT the state of Ohio provides no resources whatsoever.
THEN what gets to happen?? The ubiquitous “and then a miracle happens”???
That’s what Tapper asked right after his answer, right? I mean, he couldn’t possibly have just left it there, that would be irresponsible.
Why is this a surprise? Today’s GOP candidates must oppose abortion for pretty much any reason. This is only one reason. But I hope the press keeps asking about other reasons so we can see the sum total heartlessness.
It’s easy to make promises when you know they have absolutely no chance of becoming an Amendment to the Constitution. That’s what the Republican Establishment has been doing for decades now and why so many of their base can’t stand them any longer.
It’s good to see that Kaisch has opted to run as the Washington Insider he was for nearly 20 years instead of as a Trump Outside the Beltway candidate. Either way he got into this thing too late to attract the big Super Pac money Jeb ! did but with way too much time left for the electorate to check out his failed fiscal Congressional record.
Promise us something you can actually deliver on like Carly’s 30,000 more American jobs outsourced to communist China, Johnny.
