Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s (D) office told TPM on Wednesday that he was not commenting on a military training exercise set to take place in his state that has spawned multiple fringe conspiracy theories.

Kathy Green, a spokeswoman for Hickenlooper, responded to an email from TPM requesting comment about the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, which some have speculated could lead to a covert military takeover of Texas and other states.

“Governor Hickenlooper has not issued any statements. Thanks for checking,” Green wrote.

Colorado is one of seven Western states where the training is set to take place later this year.

Last week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor the military exercises, a decision he defended on Monday.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert’s (R) office issued a statement to TPM on Friday dismissing the idea that Jade Helm 15 was anything more than a “standard training exercise.”
