Debbie Dingell, the wife of outgoing Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), plans to run for her husband’s seat.

The Hill reported Tuesday that Debbie Dingell plans to announce her candidacy on Friday.

The news comes a day after Dingell announced that he would not seek relection, ending a career in Congress lasting more than 50 years. Dingell will turn 88 in July. He is the longest serving member of the House of Representatives.

Debbie Dingell is currently the chairwoman of the Wayne State University Board of Governors. She is also a longtime Michigan representative for the Democratic National Committee.
