If obsessively clicking through your elected representatives’ Flickr accounts is your thing, you may have noticed a wind-up monkey toy appear over and over in photos of House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) office.
The monkey is apparently such an integral part of Boehner’s U.S. Capitol chambers that his office released a video Tuesday paying homage to its “second most photographed subject.”
Staffers gave the monkey to Boehner as gift, after he joked in a 2011 interview that his tight schedule made him feel like a windup toy.
“Every 15 to 30 minutes, they come in and wind me up and I do my thing,” Boehner says in the video.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives is a wind-up toy?

Who could have known?
That’s so old fashioned.
Now he’s grain alcohol powered.
It’s the deluxe model. Comes with the cocktail shaker attachment.
So, Boehner used to be the Phantom of the Opera. Who knew? Terrible plastic surgery, by the way.
So many jokes, so little time…
