House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said through a spokesman that it was appropriate for Rep. Michael Grimm (R-NY) to apologize to a New York reporter for threatening to break him in half and throw him off a balcony.

“Rep. Grimm has apologized, and the Speaker believes that was appropriate,” Michael Steel, Boehner’s spokesman, said in an email.

The reporter, NY1’s Michael Scotto, said he accepted Grimm’s apology.
