John Boehner: GOP Should Support Openly Gay Candidates

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) told reporters on Thursday that he supports efforts by the GOP to back two openly gay candidates vying for House seats.

“I do,” he said.

The National Republican Congressional Committee is backingRichard Tisei and Carl DeMaio, who are openly gay and challenging Democratic incumbents for the House. Not all Republicans appear to support the idea of backing gay candidates.
