Vice President Joe Biden was greeted by hundreds of ultra-nationalist protesters chanting “Vote for Trump!” and wearing T-shirts with the GOP nominee’s likeness as he arrived for a visit in Belgrade on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Biden was visiting Belgrade before continuing on to Kosovo. Tensions linger there over the 1999 NATO bombing to halt the genocide of ethnic Albanians, and Serbia does not recognize Kosovo as a sovereign nation.
Vojislav Seselj, the head of Serbia’s ultra-nationalist Radical Party, told Reuters that Donald Trump “is the alternative to globalization” and touted the GOP nominee as “a supporter of Russia.”
Seselj, who was in March acquitted of war crimes charges during the Balkan wars, also urged Serbian-Americans to vote for Trump.
