Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) announced Wednesday that he will be stepping down at year’s end, the third Democrat to do so in as many days.
“It’s been an honor to represent Northern Virginia,” Moran said in a statement, as quoted by the Washington Post. “I couldn’t be more fortunate to have spent my career working with such wonderful people trying to make this one of the best places in the world to live, work and raise a family.”
Two other Democratic lawmakers, Rep. George Miller (D-CA) and Rep. Bill Owens (D-NY), also announced their retirements this week.
Moran’s retirement ends a 23-year stint in Congress.
