Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb is considering a third party bid, according to various reports Monday.
Webb’s campaign distributed an email to reporters that advertised a news conference Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., with the subject line, “Jim Webb to consider independent run,” according to the reports.
Webb has consistently placed at the bottom of the polls throughout his campaign.
Webb began his political career as a Republican and served as secretary of the Navy in the Reagan administration. He served one term as U.S. senator, representing Virginia as a Democrat.
