Jerry Buss, the longtime owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, died Monday morning, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was 80.
The Lakers won 10 National Basketball Association championships under Buss, who bought the team in 1979, cementing their status as one of the most storied franchises in American professional sports. Under Buss, the Lakers frequently boasted star-studded rosters, featuring legendary players such as Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant.
