But as they court the party’s elite donors, some potential 2016 candidates who are to the right are just as eagerly chasing early support among evangelicals and social conservatives. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday said that parents should vaccinate their kids.

“Parents ought to make sure their children are vaccinated. Do we need to get into any detail on that?” Bush said in a question and answer session at the Detroit Economic Club in a speech many believed to be a precursor to launching his presidential campaign.

Both Christie and Paul have shown an interest in running for president in 2016, and both have recently come under fire for their comments supporting vaccination opponents. Christie and Paul have both said in recent days that parents should have some choice in whether their kids should get vaccinations.

“Parents have a responsibility to make sure their children are protected,” Bush said. “Over and out.”
