Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has largely refrained from publicly engaging with real estate mogul Donald Trump over the course of the 2016 presidential race. But in private, the former Florida governor reportedly has some choice words for his primary rival.
Citing several anonymous sources close to Bush, Politico reported Thursday that Bush unloaded on the billionaire in a recent conversation with a GOP donor.
“Seriously, what’s this guy’s problem?” Bush reportedly told the donor, adding that he thought Trump was “a buffoon,” a “clown” and an “asshole.”
Bush, whose wife, Columba, was born in Mexico, previously conceded to The New York Times that he took Trump’s virulent attacks on immigrants crossing the U.S. border with Mexico “personally.” He further accused Trump of trying to “inflame and incite and to draw attention” to his fledgling campaign.
He also responded to Trump after the business guru retweeted an attack that said the former Florida governor “has to like Mexican illegals because of his wife.”
“You can love the Mexican culture, you can love your Mexican-American wife and also believe that we need to control the border,” Bush said at an event last month in New Hampshire, as quoted by The Washington Post. “This is a bizarre kind of idea that somehow you can have an affection for people in a different country and not think the rule of law should apply. This is ludicrous.”
Why won’t he threaten to beat up Trump for disrespecting his wife?
John Bush is the absolute worst candidate that conservatives can nominate in this presidential cycle. John just does not seem very bright and from his responses to questions does not have the temperament, qualities or the abilities to be a better president than his father or brother.
Mitt Romney likewise was the worst candidate for the Republicans to nominate to run against President Obama.
Everyone knows that all those in the Bush Clan always have other people fight their wars for them. Its kind of their thing.
Wow, I agree with Jeb. In this very limited sense, I guess Trump is “a uniter, not a divider,” as W once claimed.
Who do you think is better? And I agree Romney wasn’t good, I think Obama would have absolutely destroyed the also rans in the last Republican presidential primary.
