Presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) canceled all events in Charleston, SC on Thursday after a white man killed nine people in a historic black church on Wednesday night.

Bush was scheduled to talk about foreign policy at a veterans town hall meeting at the Charleston Maritime Center, according to the Washington Post.

“Governor Bush’s thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families affected by this tragedy,” a spokeswoman told the Post.

The shooter in Charleston remains at large. In a press conference on Thursday, police Chief Greg Mullen said that of the nine victims of the shooting, six were female and three were male.

One of the victims was church pastor and state Sen. Clementa Pinckney.
