Former White House press secretary Jay Carney is expected to join Amazon next week as a senior executive, Politico’s Mike Allen reported Thursday.
Carney will serve as a senior vice president overseeing both Amazon’s public relations and public policy departments effective Monday, Allen reported.
The former press secretary will also give up his duties as a political commentator at CNN to focus on the new Amazon gig, according to the report. Carney joined CNN in September and dove straight into an explosive debate with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) over President Obama’s primetime speech addressing the threat of the Islamic State terror group.
“Carney will serve as a senior vice president overseeing both Amazon’s public relations and public policy departments…”
No doubt with the title “Senior VP of Excuse-Making For Our Labor Practices.”
I’m disappointed. When I read the headline, I thought Jay had taken up a promising and exiting new career as a pharmacognocist and was off to the Brazilian rainforest. Instead, I find he’s leaving one crap corporation that sells shit you really don’t need for another corporation that sells even more shit you really don’t need.
It’s true Amazon is nearly indefensible, but I have discovered their Amazon.Smile program where one can designate a charity to receive a small donation from Amazon each time a purchase is made. So when I do buy the shit I don’t really need (except for books), I’ve chosen a small non-profit group in a small city to be the beneficiary. I know they’re pleased to get these funds.
I buy from Amazon too, but only if I can’t get it from another source. It’s really card to find certain types of camera equipment here in Tucson.
As we enjoy a nice breeze from the corp/gov revolving door on this cold day, Jay should realize soap won’t wash away CNN’s stench.
