A teenage boy who was sitting in a processing cell in handcuffs in September saved the life of a Florida police officer who collapsed while booking the teen, CNN reported on Wednesday.
Surveillance video of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. holding area showed 17-year-old Jamal Rutledge, who was being booked for an alleged parole violation, saving the life of officer Franklin Foulks, who had collapsed onto the floor, the Sun Sentinel reported.
After Foulks fell off his chair while clutching his chest, Rutledge kicked the gate of the cell where he was being processed and shouted for help, according to CNN.
Rutledge, along with the officers who responded to his shouts, were hailed for their actions during the incident and were reportedly credited by medical personnel for saving Foulks’ life. Rutledge and the officers are to be honored next week in a city commission meeting, per CNN.

Fox heads explode!
A THUG saving a cops life? THUG! THUG THUG THUG THUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!11!uno!!!
Exhibit A for why you don’t shoot the black kid just because you can: he might just save your miserable pig life.
I’d have phrased it somewhat differently, but yes, the general idea comes to mind.
Love this story. That the city commission is going to honor him is swell, but I hope he will recognize that he does have worth as a human being.
It would be better if the police department and others recognize it as well.
