The U.S. and other global powers met with Iranian officials in Baghdad on Wednesday to work toward a diplomatic solution to the standoff over Iran’s nuclear program, the New York Times reports:
But Iranian officials sought to dispel the notion that they were acting under pressure. At a news conference in Tehran, Reuters reported, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday that “policies of pressure and intimidation are futile,” urging Iran’s interlocutors “to adopt policies to show good will to solve this issue.” He said Iran hoped that “in a day or two we can bring good news” from the Baghdad talks.
