Inspector General: IRS ‘Gross Mismanagement’ Raises ‘Troubling Questions’

Treasury Inspector for Tax Administration General J. Russell George told the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday that the IRS messed up badly when it targeted conservative groups for heightened scrutiny.

“In closing, the IRS demonstrated gross mismanagement,” he said. “The allegations were substantiated and raise troubling questions about whether the IRS have effective management oversight and control, at least in the exempt organizations function.”
