Nearly three dozen people were arrested Friday night in San Diego after protesters and Trump supporters clashed, according to various reports.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Friday that protesters had assembled peacefully outside of the convention center where Trump was speaking, but that after Trump supporters began filing out, chaos ensued.

The newspaper reported that individuals began throwing things into the crowd and “several small street fights erupted.”

“Someone grabbed a man’s “Make America Great Again” hat and burned it,” the newspaper reported.

Reporters at the event tweeted images of physical altercations and police in riot gear patrolling the streets.

By the end of the night, 35 individuals were arrested, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
